# Your Yerba Brew Guide

Your guide to brewing loose leaf, sachets, and exploring new recipes.

## Choose Your Brew Method

### Gourd

### French Press

### Bags

### What You'll Need
- Gourd
- Bombilla
- Thermos
- Loose leaf yerba mate

### Instructions
1. Boil enough water to fill your gourd, and then some.
2. Add yerba mate to gourd. Fill to 3/4.
3. Cover the gourd with your palm and shake it to bring the small particles to the top of the gourd. This will prevent the bombilla from clogging later.
4. What is a tilt? Tilting the gourd to the side, keeping the yerba mate tilted on a 45 degree angle, allowing room for the bombilla and water. (or, "hacer la montañita")
5. Place bombilla.
6. Splash the leaves with cool water first to allow them to bloom.
7. Then, slowly fill the gourd with hot water on one side, and leave some yerba mate dry so you can mix little by little.
8. Sip. Fill. Repeat. Pass to a friend.

## French Press
### What You'll Need
- French press
- Loose leaf yerba mate
- Freshly boiled water

### Instructions
1. Prep. Boil enough water to fill your French press.
2. Scoop. Add 1 tablespoon of yerba mate per 8–12 oz of hot water.
3. Steep: Add water and allow the mate to rest for 4-6 minutes before pressing.
4. Press & Pour: Press slowly, then pour into cups to share or enjoy in multiple servings.
5. Adjust: Taste and adjust next time to your preferred strength:
   - Longer steep = more yerba flavor
   - More water = milder yerba flavor

##### A Note on Enjoyment
- A French press brews enough yerba mate to enjoy slowly or share with your crew — just like it’s traditionally served. Sip slowly, share freely.
